Siblings murder 2 people to send elder brother to jail

ILORIN—Three suspected ritualists, Saidi Amadu, Idris Amadu and Quadri Ayodele, paraded by the Kwara State Police Command yesterday alongside two others, disclosed that they killed their victims to implicate their elder brother, Ayodele Amadu, who is now in prison.

They hatched the plot because their elder brother, Ayodele Amadu, took the larger portion of the property left behind by their late father.

It was gathered that the three suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of Fasilat Azeez and Rohimat Kehinde last week Tuesday.

The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr. Sam Okaula, who complained about the rising cases of ritual killings in the state, explained that the victims, Fasilat Azeez and Rohimat Kehinde, were hawking drugs and other items around Gaa-Arasiko via Alapa last week when they were waylaid and gruesomely killed.

He added that the remains of the victims were dumped in the compound of Ayodele Amadu, the elder brother of the suspects, to implicate him. It led to the said Ayodele Amadu’s arrest.

Interestingly, he said, the suspects, Saidi Amadu, Idris Amadu and Quadri Ayodele, confessed that they conspired to commit the crime to implicate their eldest brother for taking a larger portion of the property left behind by their late father.

Okaula also disclosed that the fifth suspect, Segun Bamidele, 30, also waylaid one Sunday Owolabi in Agbebi farm, on the outskirts of Omu-Aran, cut off his head and took it to a herbalist.

He said the herbalist, who refused to buy the human head, immediately alerted the village head, who informed the police, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Meanwhile, three suspected armed robbers, who invaded Unique Students’ hostel of University of Ilorin Remedial School, Fufu, have been arrested after a gun battle with policemen led by the female DPO in the area.

The police boss added that two suspected members of a secret cult, Muhammed Zulukannin and John Akpebe, recently arrested, and other suspects, would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are completed.
